Hollywood Films Starring Korean Actors & Actresses

By Koreaboo

Some of South Korea's film industry greats have all made waves in Hollywood, with others exclusively known for their starring roles in American Blockbusters.

  • Choi Min-sik - Lucy (2014)

Known for his critically acclaimed portrayal of Oldboy's anti-hero lead, Choi Min-sik made waves this past summer with his portrayal of Korean mobster boss Mr. Jang in "Lucy."

  • Will Yun Lee - The Wolverine (2013)

This American born actor and action flick veteran (think "Die Another Day" & "Elektra") recently starred in "The Wolverine," where he got to show off even more of his noted athleticism.

  • Byung Hun Lee - GI Joe: Retaliation (2013)

Byung Hun Lee has appeared in a variety of Hollywood blockbusters, the most well known of which being the GI Joe film series. He certainly showed off his impressive physique in GI Joe: Retaliation.

  • Sung Kang - Fast & Furious Franchise

Sung Kang is probably best known for his portrayal of Han Seoul-Oh in the Fast & Furious franchise. Given the mass popularity of the franchise's films, we'd say he's in a pretty good spot indeed!

  • Doona Bae - Cloud Atlas (2012)

Given the visionary feat that the Wachowskis' "Cloud Atlas" was, Doona Bae was definitely put on the Hollywood radar after her starring role as the revolutionary clone, Sonmi 451.

  • Rain - Ninja Assassin (2009)

Rain is one of the most recognizable South Korean celebrity faces on an international scale. He proceeded to take Hollywood by storm too in 2009 when he starred in the action film, "Ninja Assassin."

  • Daniel Henney - X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009)

Daniel Henney is of Irish and Korean descent, and actually got started acting in Korean dramas. His first major Hollywood role had him appearing next to Hugh Jackman. That's not bad for a rookie.
