Best patios on the North Shore

By Vancity Buzz

  • Pier 7

Spend an afternoon walking along the Lonsdale Quay pier before heading to Pier 7, a restaurant and bar with the best city skyline view of downtown Vancouver. Enjoy happy-hour with food and drink specials every day from 3-6 p.m.

  • Arms Reach Bistro

Arms Reach Bistro is a fairly upscale restaurant located in the heart of Deep Cove, alongside the charming old shops on Gallant Ave. The patio features an excellent view of the doc and the mountain backdrop. Arms Reach is known for their seafood and pasta.

  • Green Leaf Brewing Co.

Is Pier 7 out of your price range? Take a seat on the Lonsdale Quay patio and enjoy the beautiful view of Vancouver Harbour. While you’re at it, grab a beer inside the market. As one of the newer additions to Vancouver’s booming craft beer scene, Green Leaf Brewing sells traditional beers but dabbles with new tastes by trying new brews.

  • Observatory Restaurant - Grouse Mountain

You’re going to have to take a gondola up to get to this one — but trust me, it’s worth it! Enjoy a class dinner starting from 5 p.m. and stare off at arguably North Shore’s best patio view.

  • Tap and Barrel

If all delays are avoided, a North Vancouver branch of Tap and Barrel is set to open this summer. By referencing the current two locations (Coal Harbour and Olympic Village), you can expect this place to have a top-notch patio. This new location with be the company’s flagship branch and will put a [higher focus on food and service](

  • MarinaSide Grill

The MarinaSide Grill is one of the North Shore’s “best kept secrets.” Located at a doc underneath the Second Narrow Bridge, this is a great place for brunch. The patio allows you to watch boat traffic in the marina while enjoying your meal and drinks.

  • Village Tap House

The Village Tap House sits in a cozy building designed to look like a watch tower. Pick from over 20 different beers and sit out of the patio facing the Park Royal Village.

  • The Beach House

As probably one of the classiest spots on the North Shore, The Beach House is surely not a cheap one. But with a beachside patio, a selection of fine wine and an upscale lounge, this place is well worth it if you’re on a special day out. The Beach House also features a great view of the Burrard Inlet.

  • Trattoria

Opened only a year ago, Trattoria has become a go-to place in West Vancouver for Italian food. Don’t let the glamorous design intimidate; Trattoria isn’t the pricey type of place. The restaurant gets busy with Park Royal goers coming in for a shopping break, but the place has a patio on the first and second floor to accommodate for that.

  • Boathouse

Drive down to the scenic Horseshoe Bay to visit a West Vancouver branch of Boathouse. This dockside restaurant specializes in seafood and steak. The branches have a tradition of featuring a waterfront view, whether it’s English Bay, Coal Harbour or Horseshoe Bay.
