The Cambie is known for its cheap drinks, but in the summer it also becomes known for its spacey patio. This place is often said to give a “hostel vibe,” giving you more reason to sit back and relax.

It’s hard to miss Chill Winston, year after year it makes the list because it’s probably the most prominent patio in Gastown. Chill Winston offers plenty of sunlight, a great view onlooking the red cobblestone roads of Gastown and an ideal place for people watching.

The Charles Bar
The Charles Bar was quick to move into the Woodward’s building and picked a perfect location. With a sun drenched patio during the afternoon and early evening, Charles Bar offers some great food and drink options and if you want to move inside to watch the game, many booths have their own personal TV’s.

Water St. Cafe offers you a staple view from its patio. Located directly across the street from the Gastown Steam Clock, this restaurant has been featured in TV shows and movies over time. Water St. Café is part of the historic Edward Hotel, which dates back to 1906.

Steamworks has a patio located steps away from Waterfront Station. The all-year long patio is great for those looking to grab a pint or a snack before jumping on the Skytrain. But you won’t want to rush out of there — you’ll want to check out Steamworks’ beer menu which has expanded through their use of a steam-powered brewery.

Six Acres
Six Acres is in a friendly spot inside the Alhambra building, the oldest brick building in Vancouver. They house a cozy little patio right where Gassy Jack, the first resident of Vancouver, built his saloon in the 1800s.

Black Frog Eatery sits near the Gastown Steam Clock a bit more distant to noisy Water Street. Enjoy a relaxing patio and watch Gastown’s charm from a distance. You can also spot sails on the waters from the Black Frog patio.

One of Vancouver’s most famous food trucks established a permanent restaurant not long ago. Tacofino is Gastown’s newest addition. Built with a two-way entrance, you can enter from W Cordova Street for its walk-up window menu, and through Blood Alley Square for its patio.
