This Gastown favourite is equally loved by Vancouverites for its sprawling sidewalk patio as it is for its tempting brunch spread. With close to 100 seats, sun umbrellas, and a bustling atmosphere Chill Winston’s patio is a fantastic place to dig into an array of tasty brunch dishes (while sipping a refreshing and boozy tea cocktail) on a warm summer morning. Located at the intersection of Alexander, Water and Carroll Streets, Chill Winston’s patio is also especially great for people watching.

Joe Fortes’ rooftop patio has got to be one of the most sought after spaces in the entire city. Yet despite the weekday madness of trying to grab a table on the patio, come 5 o’clock, brunch up top at the weekend is a much more relaxed affair. Of course, it is still best to call ahead and book a table (which will guarantee you a table inside with the option to sit on the patio upon your arrival), or turn up as close to opening time as you can to secure a seat in the open air.

Jules Casual French Bistro, located in Gastown, is home to a very sweet sidewalk patio. With a handful of tables and chairs only a lucky few are actually able to enjoy Jules’ weekend brunch outdoors. Although the patio is not overly huge it is definitely worth a mention as sitting out the front of Jules in the fresh air, enjoying the kitchen’s authentic, hearty French bistro fare is an absolutely delightful way to spend a morning. The patio’s petite size is also reminiscent of eating a coffee and pastry breakfast on the cobbled streets of Paris.

While Cactus Club’s menu is reliably good, it must be said that it is the restaurant’s open patio and stunning views of the Burrard Inlet and surrounding mountains that makes this eatery a must-visit destination.
